Parents

During normal term-time parents are not permitted to watch classes as the presence of parents/carers distracts the children. At the end of some terms, parents are invited to watch classes. If we have a performance or showcase planned this won't happen. Having a ‘performance’ opportunity to work towards aids the pupils’ understanding of rehearsing and practising for a specific goal.

Pupils

RSD operates an equal opportunities policy and reserves the right to refuse or withdraw places at their discretion.

Children develop at differing rates and therefore teachers inform parents when it is time for their child to move up to the next class. For some children, taking exams is not beneficial and parents are again be informed by the teacher when and if their child is being considered for entry.

Child Protection

During classes at RSD it may be necessary for teachers to use physical contact in order to give effective correction and instruction. This will only happen where necessary and all teachers employed by RSD hold full and current DBS checks.

Teachers

All teachers at RSD hold full, enhanced DBS checks and attend regular Paediatric First Aid courses to keep their knowledge and skills current.

Teachers are responsible for children only during their class and when in the hall.

Photography + Social Media

During classes teachers will sometimes photograph or video pupils for promotional purposes or to aid memory of steps and choreography. We will use the preference indicated on your ClassforKids registration as to whether we will use these pictures on social media.

Stopping Classes

4 lessons (not weeks) notice is required if your child is to be withdrawn from classes. We will then adjust the next month's subscription amount to reflect the number of classes taken.

This is due to the forward planning required and to honour contracts with venues. It's also to get to the bottom of why your child wants to stop classes if they have previously been enjoying them.

If classes reduce significantly in number we may need to stop that class.

We (RSD) always give 4 lessons notice of any changes we are making to the timetable.‍

Mandated Closure

If RSD is forced to stop in person classes due to a government mandate (e.g. the national + regional lockdowns of the 2020 CV19 pandemic) all classes will be moved online.

No refunds will be available for classes if they are moved online for any period though you can give your 4 lessons notice at any time.

Once you give notice, your place will be offered to any student on a waiting list so, once classes are moved back 'in person' your place is not guaranteed.

Payment

Payment for all classes must be received prior to the scheduled session to ensure you/your child’s space.

Payments are taken on the 1st of the month. The total term price (eg 12 lessons) is calculated and divided into 4 payments, regardless of how many classes in that month. For example, Autumn Term is split into 4 equal payments in Sept, Oct, Nov + Dec despite there being 2-3 classes in each month.

If you join part way through the month, your first 'subscription' payment will be on the 1st of the next month and any classes in the current month will be charged via a 'covering payment' 1-3 days after you sign up. Your subscription will also be pro rata'd for the number of classes left in the term.

Payment process:

  1. Register and pay for trial
  2. Sign up to the term for the class/classes trialled, adding your card details.
  3. ClassForKids automatically puts you on the default subscription for that class length, to be charged on 1st of the next month.
  4. RSD are notified that you have registered and added card details.
  5. RSD adjust your subscription payments if necessary and charge a covering payment for classes taking place within the month you are signing up.
  6. Your first subscription payment happens on the 1st of the NEXT month.

If registration/payment is not made, your child will be refused entry into class.

Once purchased, payments cannot be refunded however exceptional circumstances will be taken into consideration at the discretion of RSD.

Cancellations made by RSD will be refunded via adjusted subscription payments.
